Students who enroll at Rise Training School's Carpenter Program will learn to build, erect, install, and repair forms, structures, and other fixtures made from wood and other materials and will be responsible to learn how to layout, measure, cut, install, design, repair, finish and maintain various materials, structures, fixtures, and buildings.
Students will be responsible to learn how to read and interpret blueprints; assist with structural designs, planning, layout, and installation of doors, windows, drywall, cabinets, stairs, floors, ceilings, roofs and other fixtures as required using materials such as wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics and composites of multiple materials.
Students will also learn to assess the quality of woodwork and other materials; Operate tools, machines, and other equipment; Learn to meet compliance with local building codes, health and safety regulations and provide excellent customer service. Students who enroll in this course must have knowledge of mathematics and have good hand - eye coordination with the ability to stand for prolonged periods, climb, pull, and lift heavy objects.
Weekly hands on and written quizzes and tests are required. Students will also Intern as a Set Designer at First Power Media Group and earn professional IMDB Industry Credits by working on actual movie and film background and/or virtual sets for Film and Television Productions for Z Super Channel and its family of Television Networks. Z Super Channel broadcasts on the ROKU platform in over 61+ Million Homes throughout the U.S. and in over 29 countries worldwide. IMDB is the standard Industry Media Data Base used by Hollywood Professionals to hire Cast and Crew.
Lab Projects and a Business Etiquette for Employment Preparation Course are also required. In addition, all students will be prepared and required to take the 30 Hour OSHA Construction Test at the end of the Course in order to secure a Department of Labor 30 Hour OSHA Card. OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) Training provides an expanded foundational knowledge of construction safety and health standards which is often required by the U.S. Government for a safe and successful Construction Industry Career.
